For a slightly more established artist with no label who’s starting to sell out the odd show and grabbing larger amounts of media attention, a music label service/aggregator would perhaps be something to think about. They can also use other services such as royaltie retriever and LANDR. For a new act who’s created a small following in multiple places would most likely benefit more from distributors like Tunecore, because newer artists can use this cheaper platform to get their material onto the most popular online music platforms, giving their fans better access to their music. There are benefits to using both platforms, but the benefits will be based a lot upon what level the artists are in their career. Absolute will also take a lot less money than an actual record label for their services. Absolute have worked with a range of different artists and have many examples of successful promotional projects. The wide range of services offered can be highly beneficial, more than ever artists need more ways for their music to be heard, absolute can get sync deals and a lot of other promotional deals that will help an artists music to be heard. Absolute don’t put a specific few on their website because how much someone spends on their services is agreed on between the two parties. Absolute offer label services without being an actual label, their services range from digital distribution, to direct customer relationships to budgeting. Tunecore don’t offer any more services on behalf of them, so for instance they won’t make the effort to try and get your music on YouTube videos and such, they’ll just help recover the royalties, this is where distributors and aggregators are different.Ībsolute music is a totally different tool for artists. Ideally Tunecore is a service for new artists who are starting to get established and possibly even recognised. All of these services can add up, but an artist will collect 80% or more of all the revenue streams through Tunecore so of their music is being listened and synced to TV and such they can make a fair amount of money. Tunecore also offer a range of paid for extras including music publishing administration (for a one time fee of £49.99), Royalitie collection service from YouTube (£7.99), audio mastering by LANDR (£6.99 per track) and much more. Tunecore is an online music distribution company where artists can subscribe for a yearly fee (for distributing albums) of £19.99 for the first year then £39.99 then on, their music is distributed to the largest online platforms for entertainment including Spotify, Amazon and Apple. I will be comparing tunecore (distributor) and absolute music (aggregator) and suggesting another platform, kobalt music/AWAL which I prefer myself. Artists will now use online tools which tend to be either distributors or aggregators. Music distributors vs music aggregators Today, artists now more than ever can achieve relative success without the means of a record label behind them to promote and distribute their music.
